A Few of Our Favorite Songs About Being on the Road

Here at Stephen Izzi Trucking and Rigging, we always appreciate a good song about being out on the open road. With over forty years of experience in our industry, we’ve spent our fair share of time moving from one part of the country to the other. Whether that’s because of heavy haul equipment transport or simply getting your goods from Point A to Point B, we strive to be one of the top nationwide trucking companies that knows how to get the job done right.

In all of our time on the road, we’ve listened to a great deal of music. That’s why in today’s blog, we’ve made a list of our favorite songs about being out on the road and narrowed it down to the three that we think are the best. Wondering what made the cut? Keep reading to find out!

Ramblin’ Man by The Allman Brothers Band

With lyrics about “rollin’ down highway forty one,” Ramblin’ Man is surely one of the greatest songs about hitting the open road. The narrator in the song mentions being “on [his] way to New Orleans this morning” and “leaving out of Nashville, Tennessee.” Planning out a long trip is certainly something we can identify with.

This song is an absolute classic of Southern Rock and it’s one that’s been known to be the one that we crank up our stereos for when it comes on the radio.

Roadhouse Blues by Ryan Bingham

If you haven’t heard of Ryan Bingham yet, you’re missing out. In Roadhouse Blues, Bingham tells the story of a man who has been “paying them roadhouse dues since he was a young boy.” He also mentions riding eighteen wheelers out of New Mexico. It’s a rollicking country tune about life on the open road from one of country music’s most underrated artists.

I’ve Been Everywhere by Johnny Cash

Of course we had to save the best for last, didn’t we? I’ve Been Everywhere is a classic and we dare you not to tap your toe as the Man in Black talks about breathing mountain air as he travels across the country. Although the song wasn’t written by Cash, it became a staple in his catalog over the years. Over 90 different locations appear in the song and we as a freight trucking company can identify with the feeling of having been everywhere from Winnemucca to Mattawa to Bangor to Ombabika to Springfield to Houston.
